Where to begin

The Workflow Clarity Assessment

Assess one workflow, see exactly what should change, and decide whether you want help implementing it.

Who it is for

Small accounting, bookkeeping, and tax firms, other professional-services firms, and owner-operated businesses where one process causes repeated delays, rework, or follow-up. Typical examples are client onboarding, document collection, work review, and handoffs between people.

What is included

  1. An initial questionnaire and discovery discussion.
  2. A review of the existing process and available artifacts.
  3. A current-state process map.
  4. Identification of bottlenecks, duplicated steps, and unclear ownership.
  5. Prioritized improvement recommendations.
  6. A readout meeting.

What you receive

A concise assessment document, a process map, and a prioritized next-step plan.

Assessment document

What we found, why it matters, and the evidence behind each finding.

Process map

How the workflow runs today, including handoffs, owners, and waiting points.

Next-step plan

Recommended changes ranked by effort and value, so you can decide what to do first.

A sample of the output

Fictional data, for illustration only. This is not a client engagement. A real assessment follows the same pattern using your own process.

How it works

Timing is agreed on the discovery call and depends on the process and the people involved.

  1. Discovery call

We confirm which workflow to look at, and whether an assessment is the right step.

  2. Questionnaire

You answer a short set of questions and share any existing checklists or procedures.

  3. Review and map

We map the workflow and identify bottlenecks, duplication, and unclear ownership.

  4. Readout

We walk through the findings and the plan, and you decide what to do next.

What is not included

  • Software implementation or configuration.
  • Custom development.
  • Extensive data migration.
  • Analysis of additional processes. Each extra workflow is scoped separately.
  • CPA, attest, legal, tax, investment, or other regulated professional advice.

Fees and next steps

The assessment is a fixed fee for one process. We confirm the fee, scope, and exclusions in writing before any work begins, after a short discovery conversation.

If you want help carrying out the recommendations, that is a separate, scoped engagement. Software subscriptions and third-party implementation costs are separate from advisory fees, and we do not promise specific savings or results.

How we handle your information

Please do not send confidential client, tax, financial, or health information through the website. We ask only for what we need to scope the work, and we agree on a channel for sharing any sensitive material before it is exchanged. See our privacy notice for how we handle information submitted through this site.

Technology is a second question

The assessment starts with the process, not a product. If a tool is part of the answer, we will say so and explain why. DocumentRight® is operated by NVSR Holdings LLC, the same company that operates NVSR Advisory, and you are never required to use it.

Frequently asked questions

Which workflow should we start with?

Choose the one that causes the most repeated follow-up, delay, or rework. We help you narrow it down on the discovery call.

Do we need to change our software first?

No. The assessment looks at how the work runs today with the tools you already use. Software is considered only if it removes a real constraint.

What do you need from us?

A short conversation, answers to a questionnaire, and any existing checklists or procedures. We plan around busy periods.

Will the assessment guarantee better results?

No. It gives you a clear picture and a prioritized plan. Outcomes depend on your starting point and how changes are carried out.
